Virtual Recruitment Amid Stay-at-Home Orders
As some states are just now beginning to lift stay-at-home orders, others may still find themselves with limitations on typical daily activities. That includes travel or visitation for job interviews. However, recruitment doesn’t have to come to a halt amid the public health crisis. Recruiting new health professionals will be key to a strong recovery.

As a physician and advanced practice provider recruitment firm, Jackson Physician Search is finding that some healthcare organizations haven’t slowed down their recruitment processes. Instead, they’ve modified and are taking those virtual.

Some best practices of virtual recruitment include:

  • Virtual interviews via Zoom, Microsoft Teams, etc. Everyone should be well versed in new ways of conducting business, including using these new tools when onsite visits are not possible.
  • Virtual site visits via Facetime or other technology. Include a tour of the physical environment and facilities but also consider how to incorporate members of the current clinical team so the interviewee can assess cultural fit.
  • Open ended start dates. Since there are still many unknowns about when services will be returned to the new normal, consider open ended start dates to allow for greater flexibility in bringing on new clinicians.
