Stericycle renews Solvent Networks contract
Safe disposal of medical waste is a critical need for hospitals, and a new contract with industry leader Stericycle can give SCHA members assurance that waste materials will be handled in full compliance with regulations that protect patient safety, the workforce, and the environment.
With more than 30 years of experience, Stericycle offers tiers of medical waste solutions to meet each facility’s specific needs – from disposal of regulated waste, training and support in navigating complex regulatory requirements, management of sharps, secure destruction of documents, and more.
“Solvent Networks has negotiated a three-year contract with Stericycle that allows members to sign a letter of participation tailored for their facilities and benefit from our partnership,” said Kristin Hill, manager of business development. “We reached out to several hospital leaders to develop the proposal terms and received great feedback.”
Many facilities nationwide have learned the hard way that failure to comply with environmental regulation can be very costly. Kaiser Permanente, the largest healthcare provider in California, recently settled with the state for $49 million to resolve allegations that it had improperly disposed of medical waste – and patient protect health records – in dumpsters bound for landfills.
